HURLEY – The Iron County Sheriff’s office has received numerous reports of nuisance bear at night in the residential areas, destroying bird feeders, getting into garbage.  The Sheriff's office recommends Keep all food, pet food, bird seed, and coolers inside a locked building or bear-resistant container. Use bear-proof trash cans or store regular cans in a locked shed/garage until pickup day and to clean grills after use and store them inside a garage or shed.  Clean up any grease spills.  If you find yourself face to face with a bear don’t run instead wave your hands and shout at the bear.
