BESSEMER – 51-year-old David Opsahl who was involved in a Gogebic and Iron County drug and gun ring with 2 others was sentenced yesterday in Gogebic County Court.

Three people who conspired to bring drugs and firearms into Gogebic County have been sentenced. David Opsahl, 51 of Hurley and two accomplices, Teela Reese, 35, and Travis Havens, 34. The three were responsible for selling methamphetamine in Iron and Gogebic Counties. Mid-March, Opsahl was stopped after returning to Hurley, and law enforcement seized a half pound of methamphetamine from his vehicle. Reese and Havens were in Bessemer after the stop and were arrested. GIANT also obtained warrants to search various residences and seized meth, other prescription drugs, mushroom, marijuana, packaging supplies, money and a firearm and ammunition. All three were charged with a laundry list of felony drug charges. Opsahl was sentenced to seven years in the Wisconsin Department of Corrections with five years post release supervision. Reese and Havens were both sentenced to a minimum of ten years each.
