IRONWOOD – US-2 was closed and traffic rerouted for part of the day yesterday after a fire at the Ironwood transfer station.  The fire started just before 9:00 yesterday in one of the disposal garages.  Firefighting efforts lasted several hours.   Traffic was rerouted to allow for fire crews to operate more effectively.  The cause of fire was deemed accidental.  Fire crews from both Ironwood and Bessemer townships responded.  No reported injuries.
