N. WISCONSIN - A Wisconsin hydrogeologist will discuss ongoing efforts to map groundwater in Bayfield County during a Science on Tap program on the 16th in Ashland. The research includes a hydro atlas, an artesian well inventory, and studies of links between aquifers and Lake Superior wetlands. Scientists are combining modern mapping techniques with well-driller records to understand better groundwater depth and potential risks to water quality and supply. The free program begins at 6:30 p.m. at the Alley in Ashland and includes a question-and-answer session. The Superior Rivers Watershed Association is sponsoring the event.
