HURLEY - The Iron County Board of Supervisors approved another part of the county’s budget reconciliation plan. So far, the board has resolved $1,750,000 of the $2.6 million deficit. Spearhead board member Kurt Wolff said that further budget tightening and increasing the tax levy should get the city the rest of the way. Wolff said that since the city is not receiving carbon credits, it must operate on the principle of core revenue matching core expenditures. A key question put forth by Board Chairman Larry Youngs was what the cost of upping the levy would be to the average taxpayer.
