BAYFIELD COUNTY - Chief Deputy Andy Runice of the Bayfield County Sheriff’s Office received a plaque at the Annual Cable Town Meeting in recognition of his brave actions on Halloween night. During a "Trunk or Treat" event, while distributing candy to children, Chief Deputy Runice noticed a vehicle bypassing a barricade and heading towards the crowd. Runice entered his patrol vehicle and intercepted the approaching car, preventing any harm to the attendees.  The driver was an elderly woman suffering from dementia, and was unaware of her actions. Chief Deputy Runice stayed by her side until someone she trusted arrived to take her home.
