VILAS COUNTY - The new Plum Lake Community Center in Vilas County is on track to be finished by late September, with a tentative ribbon-cutting planned for Oct. 3. Demolition of the old town hall begins this week, following a final opportunity for fire and EMS volunteers to use the building for roof venting and forced entry training. Town offices have already moved to 2821 Highway 155; while the address has changed, the phone number remains the same. Visitors are asked to use the designated parking on the west side and the front entrance. While a $4.25 million state grant covers construction of the meeting rooms, offices, and tele-med suite, it does not include furnishings or decor. Consequently, the town is fundraising for new furniture and art, offering naming rights to donors who outfit specific rooms. For more information, go to plumlakewi.gov/news.
