ASHLAND - An appraiser has been retained to value the property and buildings of the Northland College Campus. College’s board of trustees has instructed staff to start the taking inventory of Northland’s art and artifacts, furniture, equipment and special collections. As all that is happening, Interim President Barb Lundberg said they’re focused on the needs of its students, faculty and staff as Northland’s final semester draws to a close. She also said any future decisions by the board, and their timing, will be strictly governed by federal and state regulatory processes for college closures. Some at the college have said so far, the faculty, staff and others who’ve given their lives to Northland should be able to contribute to the discussion of what happens once the college closes. Outdoor Education Professor Elizabeth Andre said that has yet to happen. She said that as of yet, the board of trustees has not answered even the most basic of questions regarding the closure and how it takes place.
