WATERSMEET - Friday evening, fire broke out in a room at the Lac Vieux Desert Dancing Eagles Hotel, part of the Lac Vieux Desert Northern Waters Casino and Resort in Watersmeet. A maintenance worker saved the occupants of the room on the second floor of the hotel. The worker received treatment for smoke inhalation and was listed in stable condition. Tribal management reports the Hotel’s fire suppression system was successful at keeping the fire at bay until first responders arrived. The fire had minimal impact on operations for the rest of the hotel and casino complex. An investigation into the far and damage assessment is underway.
