BOULDER JUNCTION - The Glide, iceskating ribbon installed for the first time this season in Boulder Junction is now closed. With the closure comes a re-capping of what an idea can become with the support of folks in the community. The idea was first floated by Henry Royer to the town after seeing videos of parks in Canada. The lack of snow has hit the area hard, and the idea of the Glide seemed just the thing. The town got approval from the DNR, funding for a Zamboni was found and The Glide was constructed. Response was great. The town counted more than 17,000 laps on the icy ribbon, which is a lot of folks. Those hearing about the Glide came and spent money in town, which was a big boost for businesses. There will be some things to iron out next season, like parking. But, there will be a next season. First Season of Boulder Junctions Newest Winter Attraction in the books. Boulder Junction town supervisor and chairperson for the Boulder Junction Park Board, Laura Bertsch said there’s already talks about how they can expand and improve it, like making a cut through for younger kids that struggled with the full loop. She said the support the town received has encouraged them to continue putting on The Glide.
