GOGEBIC COUNTY —-Wide spread power outages affected the region Saturday morning.  The lights went out at around 7:30 in the morning after many reported hearing a loud bang at the Norrie Location power substation in Ironwood.  The outage affected areas from Hurley to Lake Gogebic and disrupted cell phone and internet service to the region.  Power was restored to most by 2:30 Saturday afternoon.  The cause of the area wide outage has not been released by Xcel Energy.
