UPPER MICHIGAN - Governor Gretchen Whitmer released her budget recommendation yesterday. The Democrat says her seventh executive budget is focusing on the kitchen table issues that stand to benefit all Michiganders. Governor Whitmer’s proposed $83.5 billion budget includes $10,000 of funding per pupil in K-12 and rolling back the retirement tax on Michigan seniors.  The budget also includes taxing vaping and non-tobacco nicotine products, $75 million to address violent crime, and $4.9 billion in total road funding.  Rep. Greg Markkanen (R-110th State House District which includes Gogebic and Ontonagon Counties) says he’s concerned funding is not equally allocated to the U.P.
