GOGEBIC COUNTY – End of an era.  The last edition of the Wakefield News Bessemer Pick and Axe hits mailboxes today.  The publication has existed in Wakefield for 114 years.  Publisher Andy Hill says it is no longer financially viable to run the newspaper.  Andy Hill and his and his wife Susan purchased the paper about 19 years ago.  Andy Hill started his career in print media at the Ironwood Daily Globe in 1975 as a sportswriter.
