VILAS COUNTY - An Arbor Vitae man has had child pornography charges against him dismissed. When 47-year-old Lucas R. Aschbrenner was arrested on possession charges in March of 2023, he’d been on the teaching staff of the Minocqua Hazelhurst Lake Tomahawk school district for seven years. According to the prosecution, it had insufficient evidence to meet the burden of proof. Vilas County circuit court judge Martha Milanowski said before she handed down her decision that had the trial gone forward, it would be dubious, based on what little evidence was available and would be a waste of taxpayer resources. The case was dismissed without prejudice, which means charges could be filed at a later date.
