BAYFIELD COUNTY - The Namakagon Volunteer Fire Department rescued a snowmobiler who fell through the ice this past Saturday near the Drummond Lake Dam.

Two snowmobilers went over the bridge at the dam on Drummond Dam Road when one rider left the road and went onto the river and headed to the dam. He then saw open water, turned to go back and thats when he fell through the ice about 20 feet from shore. The other ride advised him to lay on his back and crawl toward shore. Emergency dispatch guided firefighters to their location and he was pulled out and put into the ambulance to warm up. Henry Rieckhoff of the Namakagon Fire Department said in a press release the riders were lucky enough to have a good outcome and reminds riders to stay on marked trails.
