MINOCQUA - A Minocqua man was sentenced to 6 years and 8 months in federal prison for wire fraud and money laundering in an investment scheme. U.S. District Judge William M. Conley also ordered Cory Kromray, 39, who pleaded guilty last November, to pay over $828,000 in restitution. Kromray used social media to falsely claim success as a stock, crypto, and forex trader, promising investors high monthly returns and guaranteeing one a 100% return while flaunting purported wealth with luxury items and vehicles, including a Lamborghini Urus and a McLaren 720S, mortgage payments for a Minocqua home, and credit card bills. Kromray is appealing his sentence.
