IRONWOOD - Following a Nov. 10 censure against, the Gogebic County Commissioner Daniel Wood, the other members of the Gogebic County Board of Commissioners unanimously voted (with Wood opposing) to ask for his resignation. Wood said he was “shocked” by the censure, calling the reaction to the credit card use “way out of proportion.” He claimed he received no training and that he intended to repay the county for expenses like spa use and room service if they were not covered by per diem, which he said other counties permit. Since being elected by Ironwood voters other Commissioners questioned whether or not Wood is a resident of Ironwood or a resident of Hurley making him not eligible to serve on the board.  Wood said that state law only requires 173 days of in-district residency and that he would verify his address. County administrator Juliane Giackino reported Wood had not yet provided that information.  Chairman Daniel Siirila requested Wood provide his current address by the end of today.
