BAYFIELD - A woman who abandoned her kids in the car in June after crashing into another vehicle while driving under the influence has pleaded not guilty to charges. Kaise Gokee, 32 of Bayfield pleaded not guilty to two counts of child neglect, child abandonment and two counts of second-degree reckless endangerment. June 14th, law enforcement responded to a report to children left alone in a vehicle parked at the Bayfield Inn well after midnight. The children were seen by a friend of the family and reported. The nine-year-old daughter and five-year-old brother were in the car when Gokee hit a vehicle and then left the car. If convicted, Gokee faces nine months for each charge of child neglect, and ten years for each child abandonment and reckless endangerment charge. She has a status conference in January.
