GOGEBIC COUNTY - Cross-country ski areas in the Western Upper Peninsula and northern Wisconsin have been recognized as among the nation’s best in a recent USA Today survey. Specifically, the ABR Trails Foundation in Ironwood and Minocqua Winter Park were both ranked in the top 10 cross-country ski resorts nationally. ABR Trails Foundation secured the number four spot, noted as an 1,100-acre Nordic skiing center offering over 60 miles of trails, including classic striding trails, combination skate and striding trails, snowshoeing trails, and trails for dog-pulled skijoring.. Minocqua Winter Park was ranked number eight and praised for its well-groomed variety of beginner, intermediate, and advanced trails suitable for both skating and skiing.
