N. WISCONSIN / UP - It’s time to start thinking about a Christmas Tree and the U.S. Forest Service has made it easy to purchase a Christmas Tree permit online. Go to recreation.gov/tree-permits. Choose Your Forest, then read the Rules. Then purchase and print your permit. Then get the family together and head out to find the perfect tree to dress your home. And remember, any 4th grade with Every Kid Outdoor Pass qualifies to receive a free tree. For every tree that is found, cut and carried home as a holiday fixture, you’re also contributing to the overall forest health. Christmas tree permits are a unique opportunity for citizens to help thin densely populated stands of small-diameter trees. Permits can be purchased for the Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest and for the Ottawa National Forest.
