HURLEY - The Iron County Board of Supervisors approved the just over $21.4 million budget after a public meeting. That budget includes a millage that will result in just over $6 million being taken in. The new millage rate is 33 cents lower than the last one due to a change in the fair market value of county property. At that same meeting, the board also approved a study of the wages and benefits of county employees, at a cost of $25,000. The study, according to board chair Larry Youngs, is to give the county a baseline from which to operate in comparison to other counties. Due to the holidays, the next regular meeting of the board of supervisors will be on December 11th.
