IRONWOOD - Ahead of Fridays firearm deer season opener in the U.P., the U.S. Forest Service would like to remind all hunters to practice safe and responsible hunting practices.  Besides, the typical wear blaze orange and not discharging a firearm in or within 150 yards of a developed recreation area, building or occupied area.  Hunters are reminded that blinds must have their name and address, or license number posted, and all blinds must be removed by January 1st and if baiting, spread no more than 2 gallons of bait over a 10-foot by 10-foot area to help reduce the spread of chronic wasting disease.  Hunters are reminded to treat every firearm as if it was loaded and to make others aware of your plans and location.
