N. WISCONSIN - The DNR hosted a public meeting at the Northwoods Center at Nicolet College Monday. The meeting was to get public feedback on the North Central Forest Draft Regional Master Plan. The DNR is planning many improvements to existing trails and parks over the next 15 years including expanding boundaries for a segment of the Ice Age Trail, land transfers and new state natural areas. There is a proposal to expand a quiet area in the Turtle Flambeau area and upgrades to trail systems like creating specific trails for ATVs alongside regular walking trails. Another meeting will be held on Tuesday evening at the Park Falls Library. The plan can be found on the DNR’s website, and anyone can submit comments to the DNR until December 7 on the master plan webpage. The North Central Forest region is 9,500 square miles and spans 20 counties.
