BAYFIELD COUNTY - Voters in the Washburn School District narrowly approved a $4.8 million operating referendum during Tuesday’s election, passing by just eight votes. The measure allows the district to exceed state revenue limits, with the additional funding raised through property taxes. Most of the money will preserve existing programs and services, with the remainder going toward building maintenance and rebuilding financial reserves. The authority increases through 2030, then expires. Results remain unofficial pending a November 10 review by the Bayfield County Board of Canvassers.
