UPPER MICHIGAN - Michigan’s unemployment system is temporarily offline through the 9th as the state transitions to a new online platform called MiUI, or the Michigan Unemployment Insurance system. The state will permanently discontinue the current Michigan Web Account Manager, or MiWAM, system and Michigan’s Automated Response Voice Interactive Network, or MARVIN, phone service. The new system launches at 8 a.m. Nov. 9 and will allow weekly certifications online, replacing the current biweekly schedule. Existing claims and account information will transfer, so workers won’t need to file new claims. For details, visit Michigan.gov/ReadyforMiUI
