UPPER MICHIGAN - A new documentary, “We Finished Their Journey: The Story of the Edmund Fitzgerald Memorial Swim,” hits theaters and streaming platforms Nov. 10, 2026. The film honors the 29 crew members lost in the 1975 sinking of the Edmund Fitzgerald and follows 70 swimmers who completed a 411-mile relay swim from the wreck site to Detroit in the summer of 2025, symbolically finishing the ship’s journey. The month-long effort faced storms, injuries, and challenging currents. Proceeds benefited the Great Lakes Shipwreck Historical Society to help maintain the Whitefish Point Light Tower.
