IRONWOOD - Gogebic Community College’s Early Childhood Education program is thriving, with high enrollment and a stackable credential system aligning with Michigan’s early learning standards. The GCC Board of Trustees were given the good report at their meeting on Tuesday evening. The program aims for a 70% completion rate by 2027 and an 80% graduation rate by 2028, up from 44% (2020-2023) with 31% transferring. The college will not offer a winter intersession this year. Also at Tuesdays meeting the 2025-2026 Men’s and Women’s Basketball teams were introduced along with the head coaches, Dennis Mackey and Denver Sharrow.  The Board approved the contract with the Gogebic-Ontonagon Intermediate School District for rental space of portions of the GCC campus plus billable utility expenses of the operation of the greenhouse and dual enrollment costs for the career and technical education automotive classes for the 2025-2026 fiscal year.
