ASHLAND - A former Ashland School Board member filed a federal civil rights lawsuit, alleging the district retaliated against her for First Amendment-protected comments.

The Daily Press reports that Kelly Maday says the board censured her after she raised concerns about unauthorized use of school athletic facilities. She also claims the district denied her access to complaints and investigative records. A second investigation found no policy violations. Maday is seeking damages, attorney’s fees, and other relief. The district has declined to comment.
