LOWER MICHIGAN - The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has denied the State of Michigan’s appeal for several federal disaster assistance programs following the March 2025 ice storm that caused widespread damage across northern Michigan.  A severe winter storm struck northern Michigan, which coated the region in ice and caused downed power lines and record levels of infrastructure damage.  The State of Michigan filed an appeal of those denials on August 25.
