WAKEFIELD - The newest non-profit in Wakefield held its first fundraiser this past weekend. WECARE-Wakefield Encourages Community Athletics Recreation & Entertainment put on “Sweater Weather” in Wakefield, which had 40 vendors selling crafts and treats. There was a cornhole tournament and families were able to check out emergency vehicles and sample the menus of a number of food trucks. WECARE’s goal is to have more events in Wakefield for the community, especially the young people in town. The event was a fundraiser for potential future events, like basketball tournaments or movies at the park. Wakefield Community Promotions Coordinator Ashley Tarro said, “bringing people together and having everyone out together was really cool.”
