GOGEBIC COUNTY – Dry and warm conditions over the weekend fueling 2 fires in Gogebic County and many others in the U.P.   Crews and aircraft continue to fight the Black River wildfire south of Wakefield, MI just east of County Road 519.  That fire at about 100 acres in size.  The Camp 4 wildfire just north of Wakefield has burned just over 10 acres of Hardwood Forest.  Two Single Engine Scoopers that have been working on both fires scooping water out of Lake Gogebic to drop on the fires while ground crews and dozers are working to get line around most of the fire. A no-fly zone has been put in effect over the fires to restrict drone usage.  The U.S. Forest Service says any aircraft or drone that flies near a fire shuts down operations and puts the safety of everyone at risk.  The cause of both fires in Gogebic County are under investigation.
