ASHLAND - The Wisconsin DNR will hold a public meeting on the 15th at 6 p.m. at Vaughn Public Library in Ashland on Lake Superior fisheries management and a proposed lake trout quota reduction. The DNR recommends cutting Wisconsin’s lake trout allocation in management area WI-2 by 22%, split evenly between commercial and recreational fisheries. Officials cite increased sea lamprey activity and reduced reproduction. The goal is to protect the fishery and support population recovery. The public can also discuss other Lake Superior fisheries issues with DNR staff.
