LANSING, Mich. (AP) — Former U.S. Rep. Mike Rogers is preparing to enter the race for U.S. Senate in Michigan just months after the Republican lost narrowly to Democrat Elissa Slotkin. Rogers said yesterday on X that he is “strongly considering joining the fight once again” and that “good news is coming soon.” Multiple people familiar with Rogers' plans told The Associated Press he is going to enter the race. Rogers will vie for an open U.S. Senate seat after Democratic Sen. Gary Peters announced he will not seek reelection in 2026. Peters’ retirement adds a new challenge for Senate Democrats as they work to regain control of the chamber.
