UPPER MICHIGAN - The oldest medalist in Olympic snowboarding history is heading to his fifth Winter Olympics. Iron River native Nick Baumgartner, 44, earned a gold medal at age 40 in the mixed team snowboard cross event with Lindsey Jacobellis. He first competed in the Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympics.  Remarkably, he became a snowboard cross champion and reached the X Games in 2011, after just two years of taking up the sport. He attributes his enduring success to learning to "outwork everyone." Baumgartner describes snowboard cross as "the perfect mix of my two favorite sports, football and snowboarding.  The Milano Cortina Olympics are scheduled to begin on February 6th in Italy.
