ARBOR VITAE - A home in Arbor Vitae in Vilas County was severely damaged after a fire.

Arbor Vitae Search and Rescue was dispatched to the home in the 1100 block of Maple Lane early Tuesday morning. Smoke and fire were showing from under the home. The occupant got out safely but suffered minor burns on his hands while trying to fight the blaze. He was concerned about his dog still being in the home but firefighters were able to get the animal out safely. Damage after the fire was put out was estimated to be at least $30K, primarily to the under side of the home. The mobile home also suffered smoke damage. The Vilas County Sheriff’s Office worked with the Salvation Army to find accommodations for the man. The cause of the fire is undetermined but is not considered to be suspicious.
