UPPER MICHIGAN - Starting March 1, Michigan hunters will no longer need to display paper kill tags for certain animals. Instead, they can use the Hunt Fish mobile app to validate kills. The Natural Resources Commission approved allowing electronic tags for deer, bobcat, bear, fisher, marten and otter. The Michigan Department of Natural Resources has been testing digital tags for turkey hunters since fall 2024. This digital option is expected to save money and offer convenience. Hunters can buy tags online before a hunt and easily track them. Paper tags remain available for those who prefer them.
