IRONWOOD - If it feels like we have more snow this year compared to the same time last year, we did but not a significant amount.  As of today (January 15th) we have received a total of 87.2 inches of snow for the season so far at the WUPM and WHRY Studios in Ironwood which compares to 61.8 inches at this time last year a difference of 25.4 inches more this year compared to last year.  However, with 18 inches of snow on the ground now compared to only 8 inches of snow on the ground compared to this time last year it may feel we have received significantly more snow this year than we actually did.  Last November and December the Gogebic Range saw 2 major snow events where we didn't really see that last year.  The average High temperatures in Ironwood last December was 22 degrees average low was 7, in November the average High was 39 with an average low 24.  In November 2024 the average high was 41 average low was 28 and in December 2024 the average high in Ironwood was 26 the average low was 14.
