MERCER - Due to a lack of snow, the MECCA Trails Winterfest in Mercer has canceled all of the live events scheduled for this weekend. A press release from the organizers said volunteers had been working hard to get ready for the event, but there simply isn’t enough snow to safely hold live race parts of the event. This makes the second year in a row that the event has had to be cancelled. Those that registered for the Winterfest Live event will automatically be entered in the virtual even, which can be completed when there is more snow. All virtual participants will be eligible to to win gift certificates and other prizes donated by event sponsors. The virtual events opened in early December and will continue through Feb. 15.
