IRONWOOD - Gogebic Community College has received nearly $476,000 through Michigan’s Industry-Driven Skills Training Program to expand advanced manufacturing training in the western Upper Peninsula. The grant will fund a new training lab at Trident Maritime Systems in Iron River, while GCC continues using its Skilled Trades Center in Ironwood. The two sites will share curriculum, equipment, and instructors, bringing hands-on training closer to workers and employers. The project runs through June 2029 and focuses on high-demand manufacturing and maritime skills.
