LANSING - Michigan lawmakers have agreed to a deal to pass a state budget before the Oct. 1 deadline.  Gov. Gretchen Whitmer (D-Michigan), Senate Majority Leader Winnie Brinks (D-29th State Senate District) and House Speaker Rep. Matt Hall (R-42nd State House District) made the joint announcement last night. The agreement is to pass the state budget and the school aid budget. It includes an additional nearly $2 billion a year to fix local and state roads. The state government faced a possible shutdown if an agreement wasn’t reached by the end of the fiscal year on Oct. 1. Lawmakers say they will continue to meet to finalize and pass the budget.
