VILAS COUNTY - A new trail in Eagle River in Vilas County is offering people a slower way to experience nature-forest bathing- encouraging visitors to leave phones behind, slow their breathing, and engage their senses. The practice, rooted in Japan’s Shinrin-Yoku, focuses on being present rather than simply walking through the woods as a healing practice. A one-mile section of the Three Eagle Trail was recently certified as Wisconsin’s first self-guided Forest Bathing Trail. Cindy Conlon, a certified forest therapist and trail guide consultant, explained the process… Visitors can pick up a free card with nine sensory-focused invitations and follow numbered markers along the route. Conlon hopes the trail makes forest bathing and the stress relief it provides accessible to more people. The trail is free to use, and you can find more information about it at taralila.org.
