UPPER MICHIGAN - Informational pickets organized by the Michigan Corrections Organization will be held near three facilities in the U.P. to raise awareness of staffing shortages and unsafe working conditions in the state’s correctional facilities. The events are aimed at making sure the governor, senators and representatives are aware of the staffing crisis in prisons throughout the state. Monday the 19th, pickets will be stationed at the Chippewa/Kinross Correctional Facilities from 1 to 4 p.m. on M-80 directly across the road from the URF East Entrance and Industrial Park Drive that leads to the KCF entrance. Tuesday, the 20th, the Baraga Correctional Facility picket will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. at the intersection of Hwy 41 and Superior Avenue and on Wednesday, the 21st, the picket will be stationed on Hwy 41 across from the MBP entrance from 1-4 pm.
