VILAS COUNTY - Last week, Vilas County authorities responded to a bomb threat at Trackside Motorsports in Eagle River. The caller threatened to detonate a bomb and shoot officers. After evacuating the business and establishing a perimeter, authorities determined it was a “swatting incident” as the caller was not in the area. No devices were found. Chief Deputy Patrick Schmidt confirmed it was “100 percent a swatting incident. The case is still under investigation.
