ASHLAND COUNTY - The Bad River Band and three environmental groups have filed a new lawsuit challenging Enbridge's Line 5 reroute, arguing the company used land deals to bypass Wisconsin law at four stream crossings. The Ashland Daily Press reports that groups say Enbridge improperly obtained temporary riparian rights through property buyback agreements. Enbridge maintains that it followed state law, while the Wisconsin DNR declined to comment due to the pending litigation. Construction at the four crossings remains on hold as the legal challenge moves forward.
