GOGEBIC / ONTONAGON COUNTIES - The Western Upper Peninsula Health Department will offer free, mandatory hearing and vision screenings in August for Gogebic and Ontonagon county kindergarteners. These screenings, required by Michigan law, help identify issues affecting learning, allowing for early intervention. Technician Joan Becia will conduct screenings at both county offices. In Gogebic County, screenings are scheduled for August 18, 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Central and August 19, 8 a.m. – 1 p.m. at 210 N. Moore Street, Bessemer. In Ontonagon County, screenings are scheduled for August 27, 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. ET at 408 Copper Street, Ontonagon.
