IRONWOOD - During the regular monthly meeting of the Gogebic Community College Board of Trustees Tuesday, a discussion took place regarding the desperate need for additional childcare services in the region. As a result of that discussion, the College will move forward with issuing a Request for Proposals (RFP) to identify a qualified provider interested in operating a daycare within the available space on the GCC campus. Dr. Ric Shrubb, GCC Interim President says, "The College will not operate the daycare and would only be providing a space, and The College will not be responsible for any costs associated with the operation.” At this point the college is simply exploring the idea. At Tuesdays meeting the Board also discussed the former Vice President of Student Services and Athletics position and agreed to move forward with advertising for a Dean of Students position. The revised position will remove the Athletic Director responsibilities while maintaining oversight of the College's athletics program. In other action, the board approved the revised Social Media policy to include and be compliant with the American with Disabilities Act.
