GOGEBIC COUNTY / U.P. – A suspect from Illinois has been arrested in the U.P.  after allegedly committing felony offenses spanning multiple counties.  On July 14^th, after an attempted traffic stop in Gogebic County, the suspect fled in his vehicle leading police on a pursuit.  The pursuit was eventually terminated, however a Tropper from the Michigan State Police Wakefield Post had set up on M28 in Ontonagon County near Bergland to potentially deploy stop-sticks on the suspect vehicle.  The suspect changed lanes and tried to hit the Tropper at a high rate of speed.  The trooper was able to jump down an embankment to avoid being hit.  Days later police believe the suspect broke into a cabin in L’Anse Township and was arrested a day later on July 17^th.  The suspect identified as 22-year-old Daniel Allard from Woodridge Illinois was arrested and lodged at the Baraga County Jail.  Allard is charged with Assault with intent to do great bodily harm and resisting/obstructing a police officer in Ontonagon County.  Fleeing and eluding police in Gogebic County and First-Degree home invasion, carrying a concealed weapon and Malicious Destruction of Property less than $200 in Baraga County.  His bond was set at $500,000 his next court date is August 4^th.
