GOGEBIC COUNTY / U.P. – A suspect from Illinois has been arrested in the U.P.  after allegedly committing felony offenses spanning multiple counties.  On July 14th, after an attempted traffic stop in Gogebic County, the suspect fled in his vehicle leading police on a pursuit.  The pursuit was eventually terminated, however a Tropper from the Michigan State Police Wakefield Post had set up on M28 in Ontonagon County near Bergland to potentially deploy stop-sticks on the suspect vehicle.  The suspect changed lanes and tried to hit the Tropper at a high rate of speed.  The trooper was able to jump down an embankment to avoid being hit.  Days later police believe the suspect broke into a cabin in L’Anse Township and was arrested a day later on July 17th.  The suspect identified as 22-year-old Daniel Allard from Woodridge Illinois was arrested and lodged at the Baraga County Jail.  Allard is charged with Assault with intent to do great bodily harm and resisting/obstructing a police officer in Ontonagon County.  Fleeing and eluding police in Gogebic County and First-Degree home invasion, carrying a concealed weapon and Malicious Destruction of Property less than $200 in Baraga County.  His bond was set at $500,000 his next court date is August 4th.
