ST. GERMAIN - A man died Monday evening after hitting a tree near the Town of St. Germain in Vilas County last night.  At around 9:30 p.m., someone called the county dispatch after hearing a large crash outside of his home. He looked outside to see a truck in a ditch after hitting a tree. It happened on State Highway 155 near Sixteen Road.  When first responders got to the scene, the driver of the truck was breathing, but wasn’t responding. Responders tried to save his life in the ambulance, but he eventually died at the hospital.  The Vilas County Sheriff’s Office not releasing the driver’s name until family is notified.  The Sheriff’s Office was assisted by St. Germain Fire/Rescue & Ambulance.
