MADISON, Wis. (AP) — Democratic socialists have recently won elections in New York City, Washington, D.C., and Denver. Now, one is running for governor in Wisconsin. Francesca Hong has turned the Democratic primary into a test of how far left voters are willing to go. Hong's platform includes defunding the police and increasing taxes on the wealthy. She faces competition from Mandela Barnes, who nearly defeated a Republican senator in 2022. The winner will most likely face Republican Tom Tiffany, who was endorsed by President Donald Trump.
