BESSEMER - One pyrotechnician from the Green Bay area was injured by an aerial firework on Saturday in Bessemer.  The Bessemer 4th of July Committee says during its Thunder on the Mountain Fireworks show, an aerial firework malfunctioned exploding near the ground, resulting in the injury to a pyrotechnician.  Beacon Ambulance was dispatched, and that person was taken to Aspirus Ironwood Hospital, where they were treated and released.  The fireworks show is presented by Speilbauer Fireworks out of Green Bay, Wisconsin using both manual and automated fireworks launching systems.  After the accident the fireworks show stopped due to safety concerns then later continued.  The Bessemer Fourth of July Committee says the accident did affect the quality of the fireworks display this year and say they do plan to have fireworks again next year.
